U.S. Senate passes bill to award President Shimon Peres with Congressional Gold Medal
The United States Senate unanimously passed a bill Friday to award Israeli President Shimon Peres with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian award in the U.S.. The bill was introduced by Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) and enjoyed bipartisan support. It now awaits passage by the House of Representatives.
